Let’s take a look into the local trends of our neighbor to the southeast, Houston. The nation’s 4th largest city accounts for over 26 million monthly job searches on Talroo’s network. The top 10 most popular job seeker searches in Houston were similar to the US as a whole.
THE TOP 10 SEARCHED INDUSTRIES IN HOUSTON
Like the nationwide trend, warehouse is on top in Houston. With Amazon expanding its logistics business, warehouse work looks to be a better alternative than the gig economy.
MOST POPULAR JOB SEEKER SEARCHES
Job seekers are looking for those high-volume major categories like warehouse, customer service, retail, and admin, as well as a few companies by name like Walmart and Frito Lay. In late 2018, a new Amazon fulfillment center changed the logistics game in Houston and helped bring 1-day ordering to the area.
It’s not surprising to see some healthcare topping the list, since Houston is known for its booming healthcare market and world-class hospital systems. The prevalence of logistic and facilities hiring mirrors the national trends.
WHERE ARE JOB SEEKERS COMING FROM?
While most job seekers are of course from Houston, there’s also interest from people in Seattle, the Bay Area, and the east coast. Looks like high cost of living and cold winters are drawing people to the sun belt.
